So, you’ve been browsing around Substack , enjoying all the great writing about video games—from retro favorites to indie gems—and maybe you’ve thought:
“Wait, why isn’t there a proper Video Games category on here?”
Well… there kinda is. But it’s a little hidden.
Here’s how to find it:
Go to your personal Substack settings — not your publication settings.
Scroll down until you find a section labeled Content Preferences.
Look for something called Manage Interests (yes, it’s very well hidden—thank you, Alex Stasenko from Gamedev Relay for pointing it out).
Click the arrow next to Culture to expand it.
And there it is: Video Games. Just hit the thumbs up and you're in.
Once you’ve selected it, your feed will start showing more newsletters and posts related to video games, which is probably half of what we all read anyway.
But here’s the thing…
As Alex mentioned in his post (and I agree), this deserves to be a full category, not just a tucked-away sub-option under Culture. There are so many amazing writers and readers focused on gaming content—it’s time for Substack to give Video Games the spotlight it deserves.
So yes, Substack , if you're reading this: Give us a full-fledged “Video Games” category. We’ve got the content. We’ve got the people. We just need the recognition.
